Public Relations Manager | B&T

?

Responsible for the promotion of the Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises brands in consumer and trade media in both Australia and New Zealand.? Ensure maximum positive exposure, create and implement strategies for brand management through media relations, and provide public relations counseling and publicity support to the Sales & Marketing departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Annual Plan ? Develop and implement the annual PR Plan to ensure proactive positive coverage in line with business objectives and the Sales & Marketing Plan.
  • Monthly Plan ? Develop, own and implement monthly activity plans to deliver results across all sectors of the media.
  • PR Agency Management ? Manage and give direction to the Australia & New Zealand PR agencies and ensure that they are provided with all relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Media Relations ? Develop and maintain strong media relations (consumer, trade, cruise specialists and broadcast relationships).
  • Crisis Management ? Assist the senior management team in the event of a crisis.
  • Create Publicity Materials ? including writing press releases and feature articles.
  • Media Enquiries ? Handle variety of e-mail and phone queries from the media and assist in communication to internal clients.
  • Media Interviews ? Arrange media interviews for senior management team.
  • Media Events & Product Experiences ? Organise and escort media familiarization trips (onboard vessels) and ship ?walkaround? tours.? Organise media events including press conferences, media lunches, shipyard visits and new ship launch events.
  • Social Media ? Assist the Marketing Department in promoting our brands through social media websites, including content production.
  • Reporting & Market Monitoring ? Monitor and report to Australia management team on media activity in the travel, tourism and cruise sectors.
  • Budget ? Manage the PR budget for Australia & New Zealand
  • International Liaison ? work with Miami Corporate Communications team and the global PR network to problem solve and share best practices. Represent Australia & New Zealand on global PR conference calls and at conferences.
  • Internal Liaison ? work with the Sales, Marketing and Customer Services teams in Australia & New Zealand as required.
  • Other Projects ? perform bespoke analyses and projects to support the strategic growth of the business.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Part of the Commercial team with the primary objective of delivering the annual passenger and Net Ticket Revenue budget.
  • Manage the annual PR and special events budgets.
  • Manage retainer costs of PR agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-5 years in public relations roles, ideally with both in-house and agency exposure
  • Educated to degree level standard or similar, ideally in a media related field
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of public relations concepts

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Proven experience in a PR role, including some event management.
  • Experience of managing relationships with a PR agency.
  • Experience of successfully working with a wide variety of media outlets.
  • Highly motivated with initiative and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated maturity ? able to remain calm and non confrontational regardless of the situation.
  • Approachable and helpful.
  • Innovative and creative.
  • Well organised with ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities at once.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel frequently (domestic & international).
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email).
  • Experience in holiday industry and working for a global company ideal, but not essential.
  • Crisis management experience preferred, but not essential.
  • Results (coverage) focused.
